Ofsted Report

Her Majesty’s Inspectors visited the school on 23rd & 24th June 2010 and left us with a resounding vote of confidence. They were impressed with the students, whom they found to be respectful and polite and described relationships between members of the school community as’ harmonious’. They picked up that our staff really know the students well as individuals and that the students appreciate the fact that their teachers ‘really do care’.

They praised the culture of high expectations across the school and were happy that students’ progress in learning is quickly improving, ‘rising more rapidly than in other secondary schools’. They commented that teachers expect the highest standards from their students and described the marking in English as, ‘the best we have ever seen’! They enjoyed watching numerous students participating in our vibrant extra-curricular programme and commended them on the charity work and Arts events that City students embrace so readily.

We are very proud of the way that the students conducted themselves during the inspection and, more importantly, know that we have the firm foundations for further improvement; this is just the beginning! We’re now looking forward to the next stage; the re-build of the school, which begins over the summer.
