Aims

 

Diploma: aims to enable learners to:

• develop as inquisitive and independent learners

• be inspired and enthused by new areas or methods of study

• extend their planning, research, analysis and presentation skills

• apply their personal, learning and thinking skills

• use their learning experiences to support their personal aspirations for further and higher education and career development

 

Business and communication: To ensure students understand how important effective communication is to any business, and learn what communication is and the different ways businesses communicate with people inside and

outside the business.

 

Keystage 4

 

  • Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance

This new qualification at Level Two equals seven GCSE grades A*-C, and takes two years (year 10 and year 11) to complete

  • Business and Communication Systems (FULL COURSE GCSE)

 

Breakdown of course in terms of coursework/ exam

 

Diploma:

There is a compulsory work experience element to the course and it assessed by both external exams, and controlled internal assessment (coursework).
 The following units are assessed internally;

  • business enterprise,
  • business administration,
  • business finance and accounting,
  • marketing/sales and customer service,
  • teams and communications,
  • corporate social responsibility,
  • careers and employment

The remaining two units are assessed externally;

  • personal finance and the financial services,
  • responding to changes in business

Business and communication

This course includes 3 units:

Unit 1: Introduction to Small Business

Unit 2: Investigating Small Business

Unit 3: Business Communications

 

Where the course can lead post 16

 

The Diploma progresses to Level Three at further education establishments which equals 3.5 A-Levels.

The Diploma offers the opportunity to further education such as A-Levels, and higher level Diplomas – both ultimately can lead to University and higher education.  This Diploma would ideally suit students interested in a career in the financial services industry, and the wider generic business environment.

Students following these courses have a wide number of career and further education

opportunities.  Many have gone to college to study Business, Economics, Health and Social Care or AS/A2  level Business.  Others have gained employment in

various areas such as management, accountancy and administration
